FAQs
Everything you always wanted to know about Nightguards, Bruxism and more.
What is the DenTek Nightguard made of?
DenTek Nightguard is made with all safe and effective materials. The main material used is called dental thermo plastic. The moldable blue material is made from ATEVA, a combination of two thermo plastic materials, and ELVAX; while the harder tray material is made of ELVALOY, a single thermo plastic resin which is also a thermo plastic material. For those technical folks, you can find further information on MDSS (Material Data and Safety Sheets) on the Internet.
Ah, the beauty of DenTek Nightguard's Custom-Fit Design! You can widen or narrow the Nightguard to meet the arch of your mouth during the Test Fitting AND while going through the boiling and fitting process. The objective is for all teeth to come in contact with the dental protector. If the fit feels too narrow simply widen (or stretch) the arch (U-shape) of the dental protector to align with the arch of your mouth. If the fit feels too wide, simply squeeze the arch (U-shape) of the dental protector to align with the arch of your mouth.Remember, if you don't get it 100% right the first time, you can repeat the process and fit it again ONE more time.
I have never fit or worn a Nightguard before so how is the DenTek Nightguard supposed to fit?
The DenTek Nightguard should fit snugly and securely to your teeth with all teeth coming into contact with the DenTek Nightguard. The Nightguard should not fall off when you open your mouth. It should also be comfortable and allow you to close your mouth completely when you sleep. It will be 2-3mm in thickness between your upper and lower teeth when your jaw is closed. If it didn't come out right the first time, can I re-boil it and re-fit it again?YES, you can start again at step 1 and re-boil and fit ONE more time. After that, the thermo plastic materials lose their memory and you need to proceed with the steps to get a replacement product.
The Nightguard is too big and goes past my last molars. How can I make it work for me?
DenTek Nightguard's Custom-Fit design will take care of that! There are trim guides along both back molar pads that can be used to trim the Nightguard to fit your mouth. Start by cutting along the first trim line (use a sharp scissor) from the back following the curve of the trim lines and try it again during the Test Fitting process. If it still feels too long, you can trim it at the second line and continue until it feels comfortable and all of your teeth make contact with the Nightguard. You can easily use a scissor to trim the Nightguard.
I wear a partial. Can I wear DenTek Nightguard?
If you have any kind of Dental Appliance please consult your dentist or dental professional prior to using. DenTek Nightguard may stick to partials, especially during the fitting process, so it's best not to use the Nightguard. However, if you do NOT have partials on the bottom teeth, you can fit the Nightguard on the bottom teeth. As per the package instructions, do not use the DenTek Nightguard if you wear braces, dentures or other dental appliances.
I have TMJ. Can I still use the DenTek Nightguard?
Your comfort and safety is our utmost concern. Consult your dentist or dental professional if you have or think you have TMD/TMJ before you use an Nightguard.
The Nightguard fell apart while boiling. Now what?
Not to worry! Let's first go through a few questions: did you take the boiling water off the heating element and wait 60 seconds before inserting the Nightguard into the water for 30 seconds? How long did you leave it in the water? Click here for additional help in fitting. You may also call our Customer Service Department for assistance at 1-800-4-DENTEK, M-F 8AM-5PM (EST)
